Team Information

General Info:

Eagle’s Wings Athletics houses womens teams that compete in USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Program and TAAF. These competitive teams are made up of girls ages 6 - 18. Teams are by invitation only. The training schedule will vary based on the group and level your daughter has been invited to compete.

Our womens teams workout between 12 and 34 hours per week.  Hours are based on the girls levels and age. We offer both after school times as well as home school hours in the morning. Our womens program is very competitive and require a high level of commitment.

Coaching Staff:

Alex Atamas

alex-webAlex has been coaching for over 24 years both here in the United States and the Soviet Union. He began his career at age 7 and by the time he was 11 he was the Junior National Champion of the Soviet Union. He was a Soviet National team member from 1978 to 1984. Alex has worked with the Soviet Union Nationals Team, was the Ukrainian Junior National Boys team head coach, the Poland National Women head coach where he won the European National Championships. In 2005 he was the head coach of the Ukrainian National Women’s Team. His overall record is unparalleled with his team members consistently scoring in the top three positions in local, regional and national competitions. He is looking forward to a long and successful career with Eagle’s Wings.  Alex currently works with our RED group.

Helen Verucchi

helen-webHelen has been coaching for more than 20 years, and holds the title of Master of Sports in Gymnastics from the USSR. As a coach in Russia she was responsible for training gymnasts for advancement to the National level. She has coached in Texas since 2000, producing State Champions, Regional Champions and Westerns and Nationals Qualifier. She has a Bachelors of Science degree (Biology, Chemistry and Sports Physiology), and is G Safety Certified. Helen likes the personal interaction coaching offers and her experience has taught her that gymnastics is both a mental and physical sport. For her, there is not just one way to teach a skill - there are many ways!  Helen currently works with our RED group.

Mandy Glucroft

dscn2367Mandy has been involved in the sport of gymnastics since the age of 4 and was a competitive gymnast for 15 years. While she has been a competitive team coach for 12 years, she has been involved in coaching nearly a lifetime. Her mom was a girls compulsory team coach, and when Mandy moved up to the optional level at age 9, she spent her non-training time working as her mom’s ‘mini-coach’ and tagging along to coaching camps and clinics as well. Mandy has further developed her knowledge attending various regional and national clinics and congresses over the years. She has been a head girl’s team coach in PA and FL prior to moving to TX where she assisted coaching at two team programs before joining Eagle’s Wings Athletics in 2010. She has also worked as staff at Woodward Camp and as a Future Stars/TOPs Clinician for Region 8. Mandy graduated Penn State University in 2001 with a BS in Biobehavioral Health. Mandy currently works with our GREEN group.

Jason Hughes

JasonJason Hughes has been coaching tumbling, cheerleading, girl’s gymnastics and preschool classes since 1999, and is currently coaching our USAG Green Team. Jason was born and raised right here in Allen, TX where he competed on the high school gymnastics team and was a member of the cheerleading squad. He has been an Army Medic since 2003 and is about to graduate from TWU with a degree in Criminal Justice. Jason brings our gym to another level with his enthusiasm, encouragement, and great attitude he puts towards his coaching. In his spare time, Jason likes to work out and stay fit.  Jason currently works with our GREEN group.

Bob Martichuski

bob-web Bob (Robert) began working with gymnasts fresh out of high school in 2003 where he competed for Rockwall High School on the Varsity Team.  He has been with EWA since early 2008 where he started with the Men’s Team.  Soon after one of the best Mens seasons in EWA history, Bob made a change and is currently coaching our Level 5-8 TAAF/IGC women’s Team.  He is very enthusiastic, motivated and offers quality coaching to all he encounters.  Aside from the gym world, Bob is a total rockstar! He plays drums for his band HELLOCH!C, which has toured the southern United States! Bob currently works with our BLUE group.

Maria Garcia

maria-webMaria was a competitive gymnast growing up. Her love for the sport led her to coaching. Maria started coaching in 1994 at Richardson Gymnastics. She got married in 1998 and has since had three children. After 12 years of coaching at RGT Maria decided to come to Eagle’s Wings. Maria has coached girls from age 2 all the way to competitive team, and boys age 2 to pre-team. Maria is currently involved with the preschool program, and the TAAF/IGC team here at Eagle’s Wings Athletics. Maria currently works with our Level 4 group.

Kelsey Lauer

kelsey-webKelsey has been working at Eagle’s Wings Athletics since 2007. She has loved gymnastics since she was a little girl, and competed through level 9. She loves to jet ski, flip, and hang out with family and friends.  Kelsey currently works with our Level 4 group.
