General Info:

Training hours depend on athlete level.

The Eagle’s Wings competitive team competes within the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Program. Team members compete in power tumbling, double mini-tramp and trampoline. The competitive team is made up of boys and girls ages 6 - 18. The beginning level of competition for tumble and tramp is level 4, with the highest level being 10 and Jr/Sr elite. Team is by invitation only. The training schedule will vary based on the class your child has been invited to compete.

Bret Stout

(Head Coach)

Bret has been coaching since 1986. He was a Nationally Rated Judge for many years and assisted as a line judge once on floor at the American Cup in the men’s artistic program, he is currently a nationally rated tumbling judge. Bret started the Richardson Gymnastics Boys Team while studying Kinesiology at UNT. The Richardson team produced several State, Regional, and National Champions. After college Bret worked for Texans Corporate Health Clubs and began the Allen Gymnastics Boys Team. Bret left Allen briefly to start teaching school, but he returned to rebuild the Allen program. There he coached several State and Regional Champions. Next he went to North Star as the men’s program director. Bret has helped author and speak for the ITP-Boys 1 at GAT. Then his dream came true in 2003 when he was able to open up his own gym - Eagle’s Wings Athletics (EWA). At EWA he has nearly every discipline represented from USAG. He has transitioned from the Men’s Program to the T&T program now, but his contributions towards the men’s program and GAT will always be remembered. He continues to coach State, Regional and National Champions. One of his power tumblers Amy McDonald was an alternate to the World Championship Gold Medal winning team and member of the Silver medal team at the World Championships in 2009 where Bret was an assistant coach. In 2007 he was elected to the GAT Board and the North Texas Trampoline and Tumbling Board. He is trying to promote education to help the growth that is needed for the T&T program throughout North Texas, the state and country.

Amy McDonald

Amy McDonald was born in Indiana and began gymnastics at the age of three. She did artistic gymnastics until her family decided to relocate to Utah. In Utah she was put in artistic as well as tumbling and trampoline, in the end tumbling would be where she would excel. She graduated from Box Elder High School in 2002 and went on to pursue her athletic goals in tumbling. In 2004, Amy was invited to compete at the Pan American Games in Florida; she went on to win this competition. In 2005, Amy moved to Houston, Texas in hopes of making the World Championships Team that would travel to the Netherlands. She did make that team and that team went on to receive 2nd place, in 2009 she repeated this event in Russia at the World Championships. Some other accomplishments are being a member of the USA National Team Four times, being a member of the 2007 Gold Medal World Championships Women’s Tumbling team, and being named athlete’s of the year for winning the gold medal at World Championships. Amy loves this sport, not only does she compete it, she also judges and coaches it, she has been coaching it since she was fifteen. She currently coaches multiple state, regional, and national champions here at EWA.

Josh Williams

Josh Williams was born in Sherman, TX and grew up in the area of Bonham, TX. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M University - Commerce, majoring in Human Performance with a concentration in Exercise Physiology. He has 6 years of coaching, women’s artistic (4 years USAG compulsory) and Tumbling and Trampoline (2 years) Competitive Teams. He has several State and Regional Champions in Tumbling and Trampoline with 5 going on to become national champions. He is a Category 1 Double-Mini Trampoline Judge. He has judged many competitions ranging from local competitions to VISA National Championships. He started gymnastics when he was 7 years old and stopped in middle school to play basketball through high school, but kept up with his tumbling through the years. Josh started competing Tumbling and Trampoline after High School and is currently still competing in Tumbling and Double-mini trampoline as a Junior Elite. As an athlete he has trained on the same teams as members of the senior elite national team and world champions.
