Team Information

General Info:

The Eagle’s Wings competitive team competes within the TAAF and USAIGC gymnastics systems. The competitive team is made up of girls ages 6 - 18. Team is by invitation only. The training schedule will vary based on the level your daughter has been invited to compete.

Our TAG Gymnastics teams workout between 7 and 16 hours per week. Hours are based on the girls levels and age. This is an after school program only.

Alan Kirby

(Head Coach)

Alan Kirby was born in Sherman, TX where he resided until his college years. Alan graduated from The University of North Texas in 1990 with a Bachelors Degree in Marketing. Two weeks after graduation he married his High School sweetheart, and in 1991 Alan and his new bride moved to Duluth, Minnesota where he opened his own gym called The Gymnastics Academy. In 1998 he sold his gym and became the Gymnastics Director for the Superior YMCA in Superior, Wisconsin. In 2001 Alan found himself back where he truly belongs, TEXAS! He was the program director at the IASIS Center from 2001-2002, and in 2005 had a short career as a business consultant. Alan has coached 8 State Champions, 3 Regional Champions, and 1 National Champion gymnast. He also had 1 of his Elite gymnasts compete in the 1998 US Championships.

Maria Garcia

(Preschool / Girls Program Director)

Maria was a competitive gymnast growing up. Her love for the sport lead her to coaching. Maria started coaching in 1994 at Richardson Gymnastics. She got married in 1998 and has since had three children.   After 12 years of coaching at RGT Maria decided to come to Eagle’s Wings. Maria has coached girls from age 2 all the way to competitive team, and boys age 2 to pre-team. Maria is currently involved with the preschool program, and the TAG team here at Eagle’s Wings Athletics..

Kassandra Bursch

Kassandra has been doing gymnastics since the age of three. She grew up in Seattle, Washington where she competed for Cascade Elite Gymnastics until she moved to Texas in 1998. Kassandra began coaching at ASI then moved to Kurt Thomas before finding a home at Eagles Wings. Kassandra will compete with the Eagle’s Wings IGC program at National’s this summer. Currently she is a student at UTD majoring in Child Developement and hopes to get her masters in occupational therapy. Kassandra has a passion for gymnastics and the kids she teaches and looks forward to coaching at EWA for many years to come.
