Halloween Costumes

The Halloween celebration is in full swing a EWA!  Kids and Coaches are wearing their costumes to the gym this week!  We also have a fun obstacle coarse set up, and of course it’s Ribbon Week too!

Staff Pumpkin Patch

Eagle’s Wings Athletics partners with Relay for Life every year to help raise money for cancer awareness, and medical research!  Stop by the office to see our staff pumpkin patch.  Each staff member has decorated a pumpkin.  Pick your favorite and vote with pennies.  The pumpkin that raises the most money wins!  All proceeds go toward Relay for Life!  Thanks for your support!

Congrats!

After Summer, we issued a challenge to the athletes at EWA.  Earn 500 new skills and get a Popsicle party after their class for a whole week! After months of hard work and determination, EWA would like to  congratulate all our gym kids for learning new skills and earning that Popsicle party!  500 skills is a huge thing, and we are so proud of each and every one of you!  Keep up the good work and look for more skills contests in the future!

Mak’s Mouse - Relay for Life

My name is Makenna Wellborn and I am a level 10 USAIGC gymnast here at Eagle’s Wings. I am a senior at Spring Creek Academy in Plano and a member of the National Honor Society. For my community service project, I wanted to contribute to cancer awareness and research.

With the help of Cuddlebuddies and CJ Products, I was able to make my dream come to life. I designed the Mak’s Mouse Pillow Pet^TM to help raise money for cancer awareness and research. Every year Eagles Wings Athletics and its coaches raise money for Relay for Life. This year I have joined the EWA team with the sale of Mak’s Mouse. For every Mak’s Mouse that is sold, $7.00 will be donated to Relay for Life. If each EWA student and team member sells just one animal, we will reach our goal of $4,500 dollars to support Relay for Life.

Each Mak’s Mouse is light and hot pink, made of super soft chenille, is machine washable, and bears the breast cancer ribbon on the tummy strap. Releasing the tummy strap turns the mouse into an 18″ pillow.

This is an opportunity for you to help raise money for Relay for Life. Mak’s Mouse retails for $26.00 (including tax). The pets will be distributed as soon as they arrive, in time for Christmas.

Please use the attached order form to record your sales. Be sure to collect all funds at the time of sale. Make checks payable to “Cuddlebuddies”.
Orders must be turned in to the front desk by October 9.

*** The participant selling the most will receive a large Cuddlebuddie pet of their choice!

Boys Classes - Coach Schram

Our boys class program worked hard on strength and body positions for a couple weeks, and now we are doing many skills, drills, & sequences in our “backwards” theme for the next two weeks.  Naturally, the boys will do many skills forwards too, but they will focus on backwards elements while also doing the usual flexibility, strength, & basics.

Boys Team - Coach Schram

Coach Schram just got back from the Region 3 Clinic in Oklahoma with several team boys where they had a great time and learned many things!  The team is having fun now in their “PreSeason” phase preparing them for their meets coming up.  Another cool thing…the boys have earned many incentive points based on great gymnastics skills attained, along with several life skills demonstrated.  SO,…they get two pizza parties (one for Oct & one for Nov).  Great job guys!!

Flu Season @ EWA

With Flu season in full swing, please make sure to utilize all the hand sanitizer around the gym!  It’s a smart idea to sanitize on your way into class and your way out!  Also encourage your kids to wash their hands on the way out of the restroom!

We lysol the mats each night, and mop them several times per week in order to keep the gym as germ free as possible!  If we work together, we can make a difference!
