Boy/Girl Scout Badge Clinics
General Information:
At EWA we offer a variety of programs to help groups earn badges, belt loops, pins, etc. Cub Scouts, Daisy/Brownie Troops, Girl Scouts, and more have all benefited from this for gymnastics, rock climbing, and other sports. Below are the programs we offer:
Cub Scouts, Daisy & Brownie Troops: Rock Climbing: Introduction
Ages: 5+
90 minute session at $5 per scout
4-10 participants
- Scouts will learn climbing commands, safety rules, top roping, and traversing in a fun, safe environment
Girl Scouts: Adventure Sports Badge
Ages: 5+
2-hour class at $5 per scout
4-10 participants
- Girl Scouts learn climbing commands, strength and conditioning exercises, safety rules, top roping, bouldering, traversing, climbing history, equipment basics, knots, complete an obstacle course, do a zip line, and climb ropes.
- Satisfies skills #1, #4, #7, #8, #9 and #10 of the Adventure Sports Badge (getting 6 items that are needed to earn the badge)
Girl Scouts: Gymnastics Badge
Ages: 5+
90 minute session at $5 per scout
4-10 participants
To encourage girls to try out gymnastics as a sport or possible recreational activity. (Doing the 6 items below will grant them the badge)
- Learn and do some of what a gymnast does to warm up and stretch prior to beginning her practice session.
- Learn about and/or try a balance beam exercise with a coach or adult spotter.
- Learn about and/or try the vault with a coach or adult spotter.
- Learn about and/or try some tumbling or floor exercise with a coach or adult spotter.
- Learn about and/or try the uneven bars with a coach or adult spotter.
- How is gymnastics different for boys than for girls? Why do you think that is?
Cub Scouts: Gymnastics Belt Loop
Ages: 5+
90 minute session at $5 per scout
4-10 participants
- Explain the six events of men’s gymnastics: floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar.
- Participate in three of the six events using the proper equipment.
- Explain the safety rules you should follow to learn gymnastics.
Cub Scouts: Requirements for the Gymnastics Pin
Ages: 5+
2-hour class at $5 per scout
4-10 participants
(Earn the Gymnastics belt loop first, and then by doing 5+ items from below he will earn the badge)
- Practice and demonstrate five floor exercise skills.
- Practice and demonstrate two skills used on the pommel horse.
- Demonstrate two skills on the still rings.
- Demonstrate a vault using the vault table.
- Demonstrate two skills using parallel bars.
- Demonstrate two skills using the horizontal bar.
- Learn about three U.S. gymnasts who have won medals in the Olympics.
Price:
Most facilities charge $20, $40, and even up to $60 dollars for these programs, but at EWA we believe in giving back to the community so we offer these programs at only $5/child!
